Malampuzha Dam at Palakkad

Malampuzha Dam is the major tourist attraction place and popular local picnic spot in Palakkad (Palghat) District Kerala State, India. This is a vast dam with gardens, kid’s garden and with many other amazing rides available for visitors. This dam is open to public throughout the year and the entrance fee is nominal. This is a tourist friendly place with all amenities and facilities for domestic and international tourists. There is no special season to visit this dam; however, the non-rainy season (December to May) is recommendable to visit Malampuzha Dam.

The Malampuzha Dam stand across the Malampuzha River, which is the main tributary of Bharathappuzha River in Palakkad. This dam has scenic background of Shyadri high ranges. The road to Malampuzha Dam itself will take you to feel like deep picturesque village surround with pastureland, brooks and mountain ranges of the Western Ghats. The ropeway ride from this dam will give you the entire glimpse of the dam outer areas. The view from the top of this dam is scenic to see cloud touching peaks of Nilgiri Hills (Blue Mountain) and Anaimalai Hills. The boat rides on the lake will be a great feel to see the exotic places bordering this lake. How to Reach Malampuzha Dam ?

By Air:

The nearest airport to reach Malampuzha Dam is the Coimbatore civil Aerodrome, which is just 55km away and is in Tamil Nadu State. The Cochin international airport in Kerala state is 120 Km away from Malampuzha Dam.

By Train:

The Palghat Junction is the major railway station to alight for Malampuzha Dam, which is just 7 Km away. From Palghat railway station, there are many taxis and private jeep available to reach Malampuzha Dam.

 

By Road:

The NH 554 and NH 47 passes through the Palghat District making it good connectivity via road from rest of the Indian cities. The distance from Palakkad town to Malampuzha Dam is just 10km. There are state operated and private operate busses to reach Malampuzha Dam apart from Taxi’s, jeep, car and auto rickshaws.
